It is only two weeks until close of submissions on the Australian Government's review of the Privacy Act 1988.

Importantly the review addresses, inter alia, whether individuals should have direct rights of action to enforce privacy obligations under the Privacy Act.

Privacy is not about hiding, it is about being able to seclude yourself.

The Privacy Act holds organisations accountable for how they protect your right to seclusion. This is your chance to tell the Australian Government you want your privacy respected and you should be able to take action if it is not respected.

If you respect your privacy or the privacy of your loved ones, make a submission; even if it is simply to comment that we should have the right to take action against those that disrespect our privacy.

Despite being in force since 1988, the Privacy Act is still in its infancy. It is time we evolved privacy.
